Flashback Pages
The yearbook never has anything from 4th Quarter in it. Various sports and other events never make it into the book! The main thing we will need are photos that can be placed into the book next school year. As always photos we can use in the yearbook will be worth 20 points each. Below are some of the things you can take photos of. If you think of something else please ask!
SPORTS - You can take photos of any sports that are happening during 4th quarter.
CANDIDS - We always need candids, and not just high school. You can also take candids of high school and middle school.
EVENTS - This would be any type of special event in either elementary, middle, or high school. Assemblies, classroom projects and presentations or any other interesting thing happening on campus can be photographed.
OTHER - Do you have photos of something not listed on here? Just ask and we can make a new category!
TURNING IN PHOTOS
When you have some photos to turn in have them reviewed by the teacher. You will then categorize and place them into a folder on the Google Drive.
Want more points? Use your photos to make a page that we can just drop into next year's yearbook. You will need to use Photoshop for this. Ask for help setting up a page in Photoshop, or follow the directions below.
Step 1
If you're using the new version of Photoshop the New File menu is a little different. For a yearbook page select the Print option and choose Letter.
If you're using the old version there is also a preset option with the Letter sized document on it.
Step 2
Once you've setup your new document you need to place guides on your page.
Turn on the rulers by pressing Ctrl+R. You should see rulers on the top and left sides of your document. Double-click on one of the rulers.
A menu will open with many choices. Select Guides, Grid & Slices. Set your grid options like the image below. You can choose any color.
Step 3
Turn your grid on by pressing Ctrl+' (apostrophe).
You should see a grid similar to the one on the left.
Now move the cursor on one of the rulers, click and drag out a guide. You need to place guides around your document to create a 1/2 inch safe zone around your document.
You are now ready to start your design! Just remember to not put any text or important photos in the safe zone.
While working always save your progress as a PSD (Photoshop Document).
When your page is finished save it as a JPEG and upload it to your folder on the Google Drive.
