Drawing & Painting
In Drawing & Painting you will explore a variety of artistic techniques and styles. These cover beginning concepts like perspective and value, color theory, composition, and more. In addition you will explore some of the key artists and art movements throughout history and they relate to each other and current art movements.
GRADES are based on 2 major factors - following the directions of an assignment, and effort. Your grade is not based on how well you can draw or paint! For example: if an assignment requires you to use only 2 colors and you used 3 your points would be lower. Effort is based on this chart:

Exemplary (A):
Consistently demonstrates focused engagement during class time.
Actively seeks feedback and incorporates it into their work.
Goes beyond assigned tasks, experimenting with techniques and exploring ideas independently.
Shows persistence in overcoming challenges and refining their work.
Demonstrates a strong commitment to their artistic development.
Completes assignments on time, and often early, with added detail.
Good (B):
Generally maintains focus during class time.
Responds positively to feedback and makes adjustments to their work.
Completes assigned tasks with satisfactory effort.
Shows willingness to try new techniques.
Completes assignments on time.
Satisfactory (C):
Participates in class activities but may occasionally be distracted.
Accepts feedback but may not consistently apply it.
Completes assigned tasks with basic effort.
Shows limited exploration of techniques or ideas.
Completes assignments on time.
Unsatisfactory (F):
Consistently disengaged or disruptive during class time.
Ignores feedback and makes no attempt to improve their work.
Fails to complete assigned tasks or submits work of extremely poor quality.
Shows no effort to explore techniques or ideas.
Assignments are very late, or not turned in.
Needs Improvement (D):
Frequently distracted or disengaged during class time.
Resists feedback or makes minimal changes to their work.
Completes assigned tasks with minimal effort or incompletely.
Shows little to no exploration of techniques or ideas.
Assignments are often late.
