Senior Signatures
After collecting signatures on paper they will need to be scanned and prepped for transfer to School Annual.
Step 1
Open the scanned image in Photoshop.
Step 2
Open the scanned image in Photoshop.
Use the Lasso tool to draw a selection around the signature.
Copy the selection.
Press Ctrl+N to quickly create a new document. It should create automatically give you the option to create one the same size as what you just copied.
Now paste what you copied into the new document.
Step 3
You should have a layer with the signature and a background layer.
It's helpful to fill the background with a bright color for the next step.
Step 4
Select the magic wand tool.
Click the white area around the signature.
Press the Backspace key to delete the white area.
You should be left with just the signature.
You may have to use the eraser tool or the magic wand again to clean up any areas that are still white.
If you're keeping the signatures black then proceed to step 7. If you're changing them to white go to step 5.
Step 5
To convert the signature from black to white go to Image>Adjustments>Invert.
Step 6
If the signature needs to be whiter use the brightness contrast settings to adjust it.
Step 7
When you're ready to save make sure you turn off the background layer visibility! Then save your image as PNG so that it stays transparent.
