Missing Student Portraits
Follow the steps below to remove the background and place the students on a new background. Don't forget to download the blank background!
Download the blank background.
Open the student's photo in Photoshop, and the blank background. You may need to adjust the brightness and contrast a little. If so, do it by accessing the Adjustment menu on the left.
After adjusting your image select the magic wand tool.
Set the tolerance to 32. You can adjust this later if needed.
Click your background to select part of it. You'll need to repeat this until you've selected all parts of the background.
Don't forget to get the small areas around the hair, arms, or other parts where you can still see the background.
Now select Inverse from the Select menu.
Then go to Select>Modify>Feather.
Set the feather option to 3 pixels.
Copy and paste the student onto the blank background.
Resize the student by pressing Ctrl+T so they are about the same size as all the other student portraits for that grade.
Zoom in and look for any areas where you can still see the background. Erase those with either the magic wand or the eraser tool.
IMPORTANT!! Make sure you don't erase any parts of the student!
If everything looks good (have another student check your work!) save the image as a JPEG.
Name your image the same as the original photo, but add _2 to the end of the name like the pic on the left.
You should have the original photo, and your edited version.
Upload your edited photo back to the Google Drive folder you got it from.
