Write Your Own Lyrics
For this assignment you will be writing your own lyrics or poem. What you write about is up to you. You may either type or hand write your lyrics. However, you must follow these guidelines:
Topic: The song must be about something personal/important to you OR about something going on in the world that you care about. Don't care about anything? Then write about why you're apathetic!
Content: Push yourself to use metaphors, analogies, and symbolism. What can rain symbolize? What about sunshine, storms, or crashing waves?
Format: Pop/rock Songs and poetry usually follow standard patterns, so if you're stuck it can help to follow these. However, you're encouraged to not always follow these and be creative!
You will be writing 2 drafts for this assignment. Your 1st draft is due next class. Type it up in Google docs and share it with 10088103@k12.hi.us.

In the end it's up to you how write this. While there are "rules" for song lyrics and poetry you can be creative and break those rules - as long as it's intentional and not out lack of trying!
