Alternate Icons
STEP 1
After your image has been scanned and uploaded to the Google Drive download it to the folder on your computer.
Open Photoshop, then go to File>Open and open your downloaded image.
STEP 2
After opening your image select the Rectangular Marquee tool from the toolbar.
Starting in any corner of you image, click and drag a box inside one of your images similar to the picture on the left. You don't want to have any white around the edges.
Now press Ctrl+C to copy your selection. Then press Ctrl-N to create a new document. Simply press enter or the Create button.
Your new document should open, then press Ctrl+V to paste. The image you just copied should be pasted into your new document.
STEP 3
Look for your Layers menu. If you don't see it press F7 at the top of your keyboard. You should have a Layer 1 and a Background layer.
Select the background layer by clicking on it.
STEP 4
Now select the Rectangle Tool from your toolbar.
Using the Rectangle Tool draw a square on your background layer that's almost as big as your picture.
After drawing your square, curve the corners by selecting one of the small circles in the corner and dragging it. See the 2nd image on the left.
STEP 5
You should have 3 layers at this point. Your Background layer, your rectangle, and your picture.
Right-click your picture, and select Create Clipping Mask from the menu.
STEP 6
Hold Ctrl and click the rectangle layer to select. Holding Ctrl while you click lets you select multiple layers. This command actually works anywhere on your computer.
With both layers selected press Ctrl+E to merge your 2 layers into one. Your pig and rectangle should now be together on 1 layer.
STEP 7
Select the little FX button at the bottom of your layers menu. Choose Bevel & Emboss from the menu.
STEP 7 - continued
Bevel & Emboss makes your rectangle look 3D. Adjust the settings in the menu to see what each one does, and find the settings you prefer for your image. If you need to start over just click the Reset to Default button at the bottom.
STEP 8
When you're ready to save click the eyeball on the background to hide it.
Then go to File>Save a Copy, and select PNG from the menu.
