Charcoal Drawing
You'll be receiving a small box with a stick of vine charcoal, a stick of pencil lead, a kneaded eraser, and a regular wedge eraser.
These are yours to use for the remainder of the year.
You can take them home.
If you lose the box you must replace it.
You can also leave them in the classroom.
Over the course of 3 classes we will be doing still life drawings for this assignment. Use printer paper to practice, and then get a larger sheet of drawing paper for your final drawing.
You can sit anywhere you want to to get the view you want. You can also clip your drawing to a drawing board and sit farther away. You don't have to draw the entire scene. Just choose a section you want to focus on.
Expectations
Draw what you see, not what you think is there.
You should have a range of values from dark to light.
You spend time practicing or put the time into your final drawing.
Treat your unprotected charcoal like wet paint. Charcoal is very delicate and will smear very easily.
