Color Theory Part 2

Beyond the basics of mixing secondary and tertiary colors are the different color schemes. These are:

On your color wheel write down each of the 7 color schemes. Add a brief definition of each one so that you can later identify them if needed. How you label these is up to you. You can draw lines like you see below, or just make a list on the side. You can do a google search for 'color wheel' to see the different methods of labeling. Whatever way you choose to help you understand the color schemes is up to you!

Monochromatic
A monochromatic color scheme uses one color along with its tints, tones, and shades.

Mixing Complementary Colors - 50pts

Choose your fruit! Then grab one sheet of watercolor paper, draw a line down the middle (see image below) and paint your fruit on one side. The other side is for the the 2 complementary colors you used.

The Lemon

Paint a lemon using only yellow, violet, and white paint.

The Orange

Paint an orange using only orange, blue, and white.

The Apple

Paint a red apple using only red, green, and white.

Cool and Warm Colors - 25pts

On the opposite side as your fruit painting use the 2 complementary colors from your fruit painting to paint 2 squares like you see in the image.
