Motherboard - Lab
Just like the CPU, you must be VERY CAREFUL when removing the motherboard. Dropping the screwdriver on the motherboard, scratching it on the sides of the case while removing, or grabbing it in the wrong places can damage it - causing your entire computer to not function. Also, just like the CPU, the only fix for a bad motherboard is to buy another one.
Before doing anything on your motherboard re-insert the CPU into the socket. Do not re-install the heatsink and fan. You will do that when you rebuild your computer.
Next unplug any remaining cables from your motherboard. You should probably take a picture first so you remember where they all go.
Now remove every screw from your motherboard, and put them in a secure place.
When all the screws have been removed slowly lift the motherboard up and away from the io plate. Go very slow at first, and if the MB seems stuck check to make sure all screws have been removed.
Place the MB on the table in front of you and take a clear photo of the entire motherboard. Then proceed to the next part of this assignment.
