Arcade Cabinet Phase 1
For this project you will be building a homemade arcade machine. Before you start the process you must assemble your team to work on this project.
Your group must have at least one of the following members. A person may have more than one role.
Team Leader - the team leader supervises the entire team and communicates with the teacher about any needs. They are also responsible for planning how the machine will be built.
Builders - the builders will be in charge of the construction and/or planning for the cabinet part of the machine. They will need to know how to layout, measure, and cut out the pieces required to build the wooden cabinet.
Technicians - the technicians are responsible for building the computer and installing the required software needed to run the games.
Media Specialist - the media specialist will document the progress of the project by taking photos and video
Designer - and finally the designer will paint the graphics on the outside of the assembled arcade machine.
Once you have formed your teams and decided who will do what it's time to find plans for your arcade machine.
Depending on the size of the plywood you receive your plans will vary. Here are some things to consider when designing the cabinet:
All exterior pieces must come from the one sheet of plywood.
A saw blade will remove 1/8" of wood from wherever you cut.
Make sure there is room on the inside for the monitor and PC components.
You can modify existing plans you find online to fit the size of wood you have.
